Description
P80 5-Spool Monoblock Directional Control Valve — 80 L/min (21 GPM)
The POZOOM 5P80 monoblock hydraulic directional control valve enables independent control of 5 double-acting hydraulic cylinders or motors from a single, compact valve body. Built on proven European monoblock technology, this valve delivers a rated flow of 80 L/min (21 GPM) and a maximum working pressure of 250 bar (3,625 PSI) — making it the go-to choice for multi-function mobile machinery, agricultural equipment, and industrial hydraulic systems.
Unlike sectional (stackable) valves that require O-ring seals between each section, the P80’s one-piece cast iron body eliminates inter-section leak paths and reduces overall valve length by up to 30%. With 5 spools you can operate loader arms, buckets, grapples, auxiliary hydraulics, and outriggers — all from one valve bank.
Need fewer spools? See our P80 3-spool or P80 4-spool variants. For systems under 40 L/min, consider the P40 5-spool valve.

Spool Type Selection Guide
Choosing the correct spool center position is critical. Each type determines how fluid behaves when the lever returns to neutral:
| Type | Center Position | Best For | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | P→T open; A&B blocked | Double-acting cylinders (loader arms, bucket tilt, outriggers) | Most common — holds cylinder position on release. Standard on this valve. |
| O | All ports blocked | Cranes, vertical lift cylinders, load-holding | Locks actuator in place. Requires system-level unloading for pump protection. |
| Y | A&B→T open; P blocked | Hydraulic motors, free-wheeling | Motor coasts in neutral. Pump deadheaded — use with caution. |
| P | All ports → T | Blade float, motor free-wheeling with pump unload | Actuator moves freely under external load. |

Key Features
⬛ High-Tensile Cast Iron Monoblock Body
One-piece casting eliminates inter-section seals found in stackable valves, reducing leak points and improving structural rigidity under high-pressure shock loads. More compact than equivalent sectional assemblies.
⬛ Precision-Ground, Chrome-Plated Spools
Each spool is precision-ground and hard chrome-plated for long-term wear resistance. Internal leakage held to ≤ 6 cm³/min at 100 bar, ensuring minimal efficiency loss across thousands of operating hours.
⬛ Built-In Check Valve & Adjustable Relief Valve
Integrated check valve prevents reverse oil flow and protects the pump. Built-in relief valve is factory preset to 180 bar and field-adjustable from 100 to 250 bar — tune system pressure on-site without external components.
⬛ Parallel Circuit with Power Beyond Option
Parallel design distributes equal pressure to all spools simultaneously. With the optional power beyond plug, unused flow passes to downstream valves (rear remotes, backhoe valves, 3-point hitch) for full system integration.
⬛ Optional Hydraulic Lock on A/B Ports
Pilot-operated check valves prevent cylinder drift under static loads — essential for boom-mounted equipment, outrigger legs, and any application where gravity could back-drive the actuator.
⬛ Multiple Actuation Methods
Ships with manual levers (spring-return). The P80 platform also supports cable/bowden wire, pneumatic, solenoid electric, and electro-hydraulic control. Contact us for custom actuation.
Will This Valve Work for Your Application?
Confirm these four points before ordering:
1. Check Your System Flow Rate
This valve is rated for max 80 L/min (21 GPM). If your pump exceeds this, the valve will overheat and wear prematurely. Check your tractor’s “Pump Flow” spec, or look for a GPM rating printed on the pump housing. For systems under 40 L/min, the P40 5-spool is more compact and economical.
2. Confirm Open-Center vs. Closed-Center
The P80 ships as open-center — in neutral, pump flow passes through and returns to tank. This is standard for most tractors and mobile machines. If you have a closed-center (pressure-compensated) pump, you’ll need a closed-center adapter plug. Note: this valve does not support load-sensing.
3. Any Downstream Valves?
If other valves sit downstream (rear remote, backhoe valve, 3-point hitch valve), install the power beyond adapter sleeve. Without it, all return flow goes straight to tank, starving downstream valves of pressure and flow.
4. Cylinder or Motor?
Standard “A” spools are for double-acting cylinders. To operate a hydraulic motor, specify “Y” or “P” spools for those positions. A and Y/P spools are not interchangeable — using the wrong type causes motor stalling or pressure spikes.
5-Spool Application Scenarios
Agricultural Tractors — Multi-Attachment Control
Spool 1: Front loader lift | Spool 2: Bucket tilt | Spool 3: Rear remote #1 (grapple/thumb) | Spool 4: Rear remote #2 (auger/tiller) | Spool 5: Auxiliary (log splitter, winch, or angle blade). Turns a basic tractor into a multi-function work platform without reconnecting hydraulic lines between tasks.
Construction — Compact Excavators & Backhoe Loaders
Spool 1: Boom | Spool 2: Stick | Spool 3: Bucket curl | Spool 4: Swing (motor spool) | Spool 5: Auxiliary — thumb, breaker, or tilt rotator. The 250-bar rating handles demanding excavation cycles; monoblock body withstands job-site vibration.
Forestry & Logging Machines
Spool 1: Boom | Spool 2: Knuckle | Spool 3: Grapple open/close | Spool 4: Grapple rotate (motor spool) | Spool 5: Outrigger/stabilizer. The optional hydraulic lock on the outrigger circuit prevents drift — critical for stability on uneven terrain.
Industrial Hydraulic Power Units
The 5P80 also serves as the central control element in custom hydraulic power units for factory automation, press lines, and material handling. Each spool independently drives a separate actuator — simplifying circuit design and eliminating the need for separate valve manifolds.
P80 vs. P40 — Which Series Do You Need?
| Feature | P80 Series | P40 Series |
|---|---|---|
| Rated Flow | 80 L/min (21 GPM) | 40 L/min (11 GPM) |
| Max. Pressure (P Port) | 250 bar (3,625 PSI) | 250 bar (3,625 PSI) |
| Typical Equipment | Tractors 40+ HP, excavators, loaders, forestry | Compact tractors <40 HP, light-duty machinery |
| Spool Range | 1–6 spools | 1–7 spools |
| Work Ports (A & B) | G 1/2″ BSP | G 3/8″ BSP |
Rule of thumb: If your pump output exceeds 40 L/min or equipment weighs over 3 tons, choose the P80. For compact tractors and light utility vehicles, the P40 series delivers the same reliability in a smaller package.
Installation & Connection Guide

Port Identification
P (Pressure / Inlet): Connect to hydraulic pump output.
T (Tank / Outlet): Connect to reservoir return line. Size for full flow — max back pressure 50 bar.
A & B (Work Ports): Connect to cylinder or motor. “A” typically extends, “B” retracts — verify with actuator documentation.
N (Power Beyond): Connect to inlet of the next downstream valve. If not used, keep plugged.
Mounting
Three through-holes (Ø 8.5 mm) for bolt mounting. Levers can be oriented vertically or horizontally. Ensure a flat, rigid mounting surface — vibration or flex causes fatigue cracking at mount points over time. For a refresher on reading circuit diagrams during installation, see our guide on how to read hydraulic system diagrams.
Relief Valve Adjustment
Factory preset: 180 bar (2,610 PSI). To adjust — loosen the lock nut on the relief valve cap, turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease, re-tighten the lock nut. Always use a calibrated pressure gauge. Never exceed 250 bar.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I mix different spool types on the same valve?
A: Yes. Each spool position is independent. A common 5-spool configuration is 4 × “A” spools for double-acting cylinders + 1 × “Y” spool for a hydraulic motor. Specify the type per position when ordering (e.g., A-A-A-A-Y).
Q: What is the difference between P80 and P40?
A: Flow capacity. The P80 handles up to 80 L/min (21 GPM); the P40 is rated for 40 L/min (11 GPM). The P80 also uses larger port sizes (G 1/2″ vs. G 3/8″ work ports). Choose the P80 for pumps delivering over 11 GPM or when you need faster actuator speeds.
Q: My tractor is open-center. Do I need adapters?
A: No — the P80 ships open-center by default, compatible with most tractors. If you have downstream valves (rear remotes, backhoe, 3-point hitch), add a power beyond adapter sleeve so flow can pass through to those valves.
Q: Can this valve work on a closed-center system?
A: It can be converted to closed-center by installing a plug that blocks the P→T neutral path. However, it does not support load-sensing — it cannot send an LS signal to the pump. For basic closed-center setups with pressure-compensated pumps, it works; for full LS functionality, a different valve architecture is required.
Q: What’s the max number of spools in the P80 series?
A: The P80 monoblock supports 1 to 6 spools. If you need more than 6 functions, the typical approach is two P80 valves in series connected via power beyond, or switching to a sectional valve design.
Q: How do I adjust the relief valve?
A: Loosen the lock nut on the relief valve cap, turn the screw clockwise to increase pressure (or counterclockwise to decrease), and re-tighten. Factory preset is 180 bar (2,610 PSI); adjustable range is 100–250 bar. Always monitor with a calibrated gauge. Never exceed 250 bar.
Q: What hydraulic oil should I use?
A: ISO VG 32 to VG 68, depending on ambient temperature (VG 46 is a solid general-purpose choice). Filtration to 25 µm minimum (10 µm preferred) to protect the precision spool surfaces. Contaminated oil is the #1 cause of premature control valve failure.
Q: Can I add a hydraulic lock after purchase?
A: Yes. Hydraulic locks (pilot-operated check valves) can be installed on A and/or B ports at any time. Strongly recommended for boom arms, outrigger legs, and any circuit where gravity could back-drive the cylinder in neutral. Contact us for the matching lock model.
